Dr. Peang with you hight education why you repeat sone thing with wrong meaning in Khmer proverb like this?
"Kat kantuy, leab kambor," literally "Cut the tail, and aply the lime on the wound," i.e.,
To make the tail not to be able to grow back again!!!!
To hurt people to the point that they never dare to try against you again
I don't pretend to be an expert on Khmer proverb, or "to know" everything since I have a Ph.D. degree. If the translation provided by Anonymous is more correct, then I humbly stand corrected. The translation should not distract from the point I would like to make in the article, however.
Sincerely,
Gaffar Peang-Meth, Ph.D.

Why do you have to repeatedly refer to your PhD degree, Dr Peang-Meth? Would it be a sign of insecurity?

Yes, with all due respect, and after consulting with my grand'ma, Anonymous is correct as to the meaning of the proverb thusly its translation. Then again, nobody is born to know everything in this world!

PhD is a highest education degree in the World. I am respecting and preying for his or her very hard in learning, studying and researching for 8-10 years and in debts. He was very proud of himself to earned PhD by very hard work, which was totally different from Hun Sen PhD degrees without schooling.
Please try not to knock down each other because of an obscure proverb. Will it help you to be enlightened or get a Nobel prize if you know all these proverbs?

You are not foreigner or khmer grove up in American like Seng Thery, I am sure or not so sure?
Changing meaning of a proverb like changing culture or history!
If you not sure go ask other before using it!!
don't talk like a Siam or Youn try to be Khmer!!
Don't even know about Khmer popular prover and try to judge Khmer behavior??????
i think it is the lack of good worldly education that makes these 'individuals' do what they do. of course, cambodia must call for the rule of law for our country, like it or not! the rule of law is way better for our country, not the jungle law, you know!
