CAMBODIA'S OPPOSITION WELCOMES UNITED NATIONS CALL FOR POLITICAL RECONCILIATION

CPP Must Implement Steps to Improve the Electoral System

Cambodian opposition leader Sam Rainsy has welcomed the call by the United Nations human rights envoy Surya Subedi for reconciliation between his party and the ruling CPP in the interests of democracy.

Subedi said during his six-day visit to Cambodia that a concerted effort towards building bridges by the government and the opposition would strengthen the process of democratization.

Echoing the findings of the European Union observers in 2008, Subedi said that the government needs to take steps to ensure that free and fair elections take place next year and in 2013. He added that he was particularly concerned about political parties being denied access to the mass media, as well as allegations that civil servants, the military and police have taken part in political campaigning using government resources.

Subedi will make specific recommendations on how to improve the country's electoral system. Refusal by the Hun Sen government to accept these recommendations would render the coming elections meaningless.

In that event the international community must refuse to send observers to monitor the elections -- there is no point in watching a foregone conclusion unfold.

Foreign governments and lenders must step up pressure on the Hun Sen government to deliver meaningful democracy.

The risk of losing international recognition and financing will push the government to improve the electoral process and give Cambodians a chance of expressing their will.

Sam Rainsy, the leader of Cambodia's largest opposition party, is living in exile in France to avoid being sent to prison on trumped up political charges. His presence in Cambodia before 2013 is necessary to ensure a serious challenge to Hun Sen and to render the elections credible.

Sam Rainsy confirms that his party is willing to respond positively to the appeal for reconciliation from the United Nations and hopes that the CPP will also show the goodwill that is necessary to achieving democracy in Cambodia.

sometimes, too, like it or not, one has to obey the rule of law, otherwise, chaos persists. know the definition of chaos. it's synonymous with crisis, of course, it's nice if everyone can agree or think the same, but that's boring if we all look the same without diversity, etc... rule of law doesn't not discriminate, that's my point. so focus on fostering a rule of law society and thinking, that's more lucratic for cambodia than trying to live in la la land, really!

Justice will not fall from the sky for us.

We have to fiercely fight for it.

And Vietnam will not let Cambodia lives peacefully unless we fight hard against this devil monster Vietnam, primarily through legal peaceful means. One way is to let the international Communities aware of Vietnam’s hostile acts against Cambodia.

Don't be complacent with the fake peace that we have right now. This peace given by Vietnam will lead to Khmer people become a minority in our own Country in the future. Look at the mass influx of Vietnamese into Cambodia.

The present Vietnam’s game toward Cambodia: Vietnam does not hit Cambodia with the war right now but Vietnam hits Cambodia with the deployment of Vietnamese people to take over Cambodia.

Khmer people must always remember that whether Cambodia has war or peace depends entirely on Vietnam. Vietnam can mount a fake civil war in Cambodia at anytime it wants.

So, to survive, we must get rid of Ah Kwack puppet government which has followed strictly all Vietnam's orders.

The puppet government has defied the Paris peace accord and has implemented the detrimental bilateral treaties between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Look at the result of those bilateral treaties:

Koh Trol, Koh Krarchalk Sess, border encroachment on land and sea, use 3 Khmer provinces to serve Vietnam, massive land concession to Vietnam, lease Khmer's soul Angkor Wat to Vietnam, destruction of natural resource, mass influx of Vietnamese into Cambodia, etc...

So, when will Ah Kwack government wakes up and realizes that Vietnam is swallowing Cambodia ?

When will Khmer people be able to remove this puppet Yuon's slave from power?

i don't think so about viet/youn, it's probably one of those political ploy to stir up hatred, nationalism, etc... again, i could careless about viet/youn, but i wanted to point but that nowadays, the world as rules and regulation called the UN, the international law, etc; so, it is not tolerated for viet/youn to invade, annex or colonize or take lands, territories, etc from a sovereign state like cambodia, ok. so, don't being so paranoid about viet/youn steal or invade cambodia like during the dark ages era, etc, ok! so, that paranoia aside, cambodia should focus on establishing a permanent rule of law society so everyone and everything will be governed by the rule of law only, not by dictatorship, one-man rule or what have you, ok! rule of law means everyone must play by the rule, not by personal subjectivity, etc, you know! under the rule of law, one has to be pragmatic, not emotional when it comes to justice, gov't, etc.

one way to stop being paranoia about viet/youn violation, etc is for cambodia to call for s strong and effective immigration law and reforms in gov't, period. stop whining and act ignorant and stupidp, instead use the law to deal with all types of violations whether domestic or foreign. that is called smart, wise and enlightened. don't be stupid forever, ok! use the existing law and existing mechanism to cambodia's advantage! no more jungle law is allowed in cambodia, period!
