History is not fiction. But Cambodia history after 1979 has been mixed with fictional exaggerations for the purpose of fooling the younger generations into believing them as facts. Modern Khmer historians, having been bought off by money and power, have spun the facts of history, and as a result, now young Cambodians, some of whom are half-blood Khmer Yuons have believed wholeheartedly, since they have been taught so.
What is the 7 Makara? It is no doubt marked the day when Vietnam invasion won over the Khmer Rouge regime and installed a big herd of its puppets to carry on Ho Chi Minh’s plan to engulf Cambodia.
Was there really such a thing called the Liberation Movement formed by Hun Sen and his clique? Of course Vietnamese are smart in playing their game; they had an empty shell of Viet Minh’s in which they needed to fill with some Khmers, whom they trusted, could serve them well. They disguised their invasion as a Liberation Movement for the sole purpose of fooling Khmer younger generations and the world into believing that it was Khmers themselves who saved their compatriots from the Khmer Rouge’s massacre. This herd of brutal barbarians, without shame, claimed their merit and faked it real. By signing many deals before and after the invasion, the puppets, to fulfill the deals, have given parts of our farmers’ land along the border to Vietnam, and have allowed many millions Vietnamese to flow into Cambodia freely. Most of them now become legal citizens of Cambodia, who can vote for the CPP. These Vietnamese have hurt and harmed Khmer people in their own homeland so much, and destroyed Cambodia natural resources recklessly.
Why Vietnam decided to invade Cambodia? There were three main factors leading to the Vietnam victorious invasion:
1- Around the mid of 1973 the Khmer Rouge, when feeling strongly confident in themselves that they alone could win the war over the Republic Regime, declared to break their mutual relationship with the Vietcong, which made the Vietcong felt bitterly embarrassed and angry. After 1973 there were no more Vietcong to help them fight the war.
2- As some friends know, there were at least two or three factions of Khmer Rouge, who got clashed against each other many times, then it led to a purge of the other faction’s members whom the Angkar Leu did not trust. The purges and the kills of its own arm-struggled comrades scared thousands of Khmer Rouge to flee to Vietnam. As the number of the escapees increased, the Vietnamese leaders felt being given a golden chance to take a revenge on the Khmer Rouge.
3- The Angkar Leu, who felt so confident that each of its skilful soldiers were capable of killing up 40 Vietnam’s, sent a company of them to Hatien village in early 1978, and mercilessly killed over 400 unarmed Yuon villagers (see pictures on page 307 of Brother Enemy written by Nayan Chanda); that invasion made Yuon plan a revenge. It did no take Vietnam long to carry out its plan. First Vietnam had to recruit some of the ex-Khmer Rouge who appeared to be dumb and obsequious enough to obey their demands, and they had them as they wished. This group of pure rustics and thieves, havingno understanding of what patriotism meant, submitted themselves as loyal slaves of Yuons till their last breath. Why? It’s not hard to read the mentality of the barely-educated barbarians whose blind greed has no boundary.

i don't like the way some ignorant politicians painted the picture of cambodia like this. i there are more to cambodia than just viet/youn or what have you. cambodia needs to think and see beyond viet/youn sphere of regional influence, etc... stop confining our vision to just viet/youn thing! look and think beyond that local scope, ok! othewise, it is cambodia's own fault for limiting ourself. think about it!
and stop being selfish and evil to your own people to start with. educate everyone, not just your clique or your own family, the whole country, ok! this is what people mean when they say take a look at yourself hard in the mirror. and get rid of that stupidity, ok!

ever heard of liberating oneself from that bad learned behavior? well, do that first so that you can see and thinking clearly for the benefit of the country, not the benefit of you only, ok!
everything on earth was a pattern that leads up to it. what makes a culture, a tradition, a river, a lake, even the human physiology has its pattern, i mean everything, ok! for example, what makes a culture? first you have the learned behavior, then from there, you have tradition, then the culture; they all are shaped by other learned behavior. and these thing could change or modify, etc to adjust or adapt easily. if it's a stupid or bad learned behavior, then guess what, the tradition or culture needed to being reformed or changed. it's not a simply process, though, but it's good to understand the process, it helps tremendously to understand the process of life, of nature, of society, etc, etc, you know! it helps if we all learn to think and analyze and critic and evaluate, etc, really! and nothing is free about this, you must earn it through schooling, experience, but more through schooling as that is the most recognized method of earning that creditial. must learn to follow the rule and play by the rule, ok! no short cut because short cut is dangerous when it comes to the difference between life and death, you know! khmer people from all walks of life need to understand the concept! it is ok to modify and change and reform our old ways so we can survive and adapt and adjust to changes, etc, ok!
cambodian people and leadership need some paradigm shift or thinking shift, stop living in the dark hole forever, ok!

Cambodia's loss of territorial integrity to our neighbours is a known fact and it is usually a by-product of our own false as unity is a very rare commodity found among Cambodian leaders and those who want to be future leaders.
Knowingly they allow themselves to be manipulated and used by the neighbours at the loss of Cambodia and her people in order to benefit themselves, their families and cronies.
The disunity among Cambodian people and their leaders is not just among the uneducated KR people at the local levels or so much due to the lack of education; remember that several KR leaders were well educated in France.
Also we see the opposition parties being plagued with the same problem of disunity and one can say with confidence that many of these opposition leaders are very well educated inside and outside Cambodia.
Cambodian leaders have problems learning how to compromise their positions for the sake of the people and the country they claim on a daily basis to love and die for. They can't lose face even though it is harmless physically. They will go to the extent of destroying the country and causing so much suffering to their own people just to prove their points, some of which are silly, useless and stupid.
You can blame Vietnam and Thailand all you want, but you won't change anything. If your country is weak, then your neighbours will take advantage of you.
The great King Jayavarman VII did the same to others in order to expand his territory in the 12th century.
Back in the old centuries, one of the current oppositions would have gone to Thailand to ask for a favor and military assistance to fight the CPP and Vietnam and in the end would, for sure, turn in Preah Vihear to Thailand if they won the war and became a new master of Cambodia!
Cambodia cannot afford another civil war. Another civil war would bring the floating villages of Vietnamese citizens right onto abandoned lands and houses.
Cambodians leaders, especially the oppositions need to learn to work together for the sake of Cambodia and the Cambodian people, themselves need to be smartened up and hold the CPP accountable for their actions if the actions are detrimental to Cambodia and her interests.

bullies usually like to pick the one they think they can pick on the most. the mean one or the smart one, bullies will avoid because they know they cannot bully those people. also, the way i see it, the painting above always shows the same old leaders from a bygone era of cambodia. i think there are more to cambodia than just those handful of old leaders in cambodia. for someone to paint the picture of only the same old faces of leaders like that mean they are stuck in one mode or one gear. it is time for cambodia to shift gear, i say! don't wait too much until time catch up with them, make law to make them retire by a certain age, and make law for everything in cambodia, even the age required for someone to run for office e.g. the law prohibits anyone running for office without education, under a certain age limit, without life experience, etc, etc... yes, cambodia should operate on the rule of law, period, no exception and no liency either. live and play by the rule of law only. that's how it should be from now on in cambodia, i think!
it's time to put back trust and confidence in cambodia by khmer people. limit the fear factors to a minimum as possible, you know! act up and help to make a real, lasting difference for cambodia and for all. god bless cambodia.
i think geographically speaking, cambodia is stuck between viet/youn and siem, the bigger neighbors. so from this perspective, all khmer should learn to survive and to look, see and think beyond the immediate environment. we need to change our thinking and our way a little to put good strategy so we can limit the political influence from these bigger neighbors. the weapons to beat them is not necessarily fighting among ourselves or our own people but to be educated, to think differently as in competition, to act cleverly and smartly and most importantly to become educated about everything including the world, our own country, etc, etc... the old saying goes when stuck in the same gear, shift it. use social evolution, plan national strategy, encourage more and more education for khmer people and so forth. how cambodia got to be in the middle of siem and youn country was probably the design of the french colonial master from a long time ago. geographically speaking, cambodia is stucked in the middle of both siem and youn, the bigger neighbors. so we have to make the best use of that, given, not much, geographically, we can do about it now. instead, get the entire world to know and recognize cambodia and educate everyone.
Khmer needs to stop talking and more action. Problem solve if someone puts a bullet to the dictators head. Dont wait and talk
