Until his last breath, Sihanouk never accept his policy failures while he was in power. The Coup was lamented out of frustration and to prevent the NVA to swallow Cambodia in the 60's. Often a self proclaim and as a the non align leader movement, Sihanouk claimed he took a neutral path, so much in the lip but yet faithfully executed orders from his Peking's god father, Chou En lai.
So the neutral-left leaning red prince claimed to have accomplish so much to compare his legacy to the current government!!!, it seems, just like the old days, great developments on the back of Khmer people, false sense of accomplisments yet people are starving on the street and in the country side. As for accomplishments and developments made by the Hun Sen era is simple to see. We need to look at the roads, the bridges, the schools and other so called development projects, figure out how much we owed the Chinese then we can see that Cambodia will owed the Chinese until generations to come if we are lucky to have a government with acceptable fiscal collection and distribution. A year ago Carol Roddley, U.S. ambassador to Cambodia gave a speech and said U.S.$500 Million in tax collection was lost due to corruption within the government circles.
Every other country when they made land concession and economic development, such as giving 40% of farm land to private companies, cut timber, they use the money return from those developments to build school and infrastructures. But the Hun Sen Government made land concession, develop economic zones, got MFN status to export to the U.S. and Europe but no money, built one damn bridge, they had to borrow money from China. Help me out, what happened to the money coming from the land concession, timber cutting, eviction of poor farmers??
And Sihanouk want to brag about these accomplishments??

Sihanouk was a Revolution Prince/King, he saw his own people were poor and were too ignorant, they were drawn to the same Buddhism, the cult from India that cost the Khmer empire. Million men run to becoming Monks and built Pagodas while the vast majority in the whole country were too poor- led to the collapse of the economy. In addition to that they're too lazy.

(it was in one document "telegram between US and UK ambassadors.) While his country (Cambodia) was heavily infiltrated by Communists beginning since 1885 led by the 1st Viet revolutionist named Phan Boi Chau based in Thailand --all the way to Khmer Viet Minh..Issarak the Viet Communist run the show in the forest of Cambodia, and million peasants Khmers followed them.
Thailand and SVN invaded Cambodia many times, Sihanouk asked the US to stop their dogs (Thai and SVN), but the US ignored.
Sihanouk had to choose one: US or China? if not Thailand and SVN will invade and take over or Soviet, China and NV will take over.
CIA warned Sihanouk "No Neutrality for you, either you are with us or nothing". China warned Sihanouk "Either you come with us or we will take it with or without your permission.
Lon Nol and Sirimatak chose the US, but their regime was too corrupted. Nixon said "this man Lon Nol is who..stupid.. his name can spell backward.." sic!
Cambodia issues were too complicated to comprehend while Cambodia had no army, no money and was too poor. Vietnamese walked in/out like they walked in their own homes or closets since French controlled. I have learn alot about Ex-King Ta and he was not the great leader. He was a self center and only care for himself. He never once admitted that he was a screw up leader that had caused 3 million death.

Lon Nol may not have been the best leader in the Khmer history, but he was serving the country as a Khmer hero.
Lon Nol removed Sihanouk from politic because as a Khmer King, Sihanouk only cared about his movies, his girlfriends and wifes and left little room for the contry but at the same time allowed the Vietnamese to set up base camp and supplying the Vietnamese with Chinese weapons and with food.
Lon Nol removing Sihanouk was the best decision at the time. Pol Pot resulted from the Vietnamese, and the country uprised from SIhanouk asking the Khmer to join Pol Pot and SIhanouk. Yuon Communist in Hanoi helped by Soviet (Stalin), (practically not yet officially) already took Cambodia and Laos. The Ho Chi Minh trail existed before the Communists pretended to officially asked Cambodia (Bui Tin document). Yuon Communists walking in/out like their own homes since 1900's.
Prince Sihanopuk was just a little butterfly, he could not do anything beside went along and trying to find way to save his life, his country and his people.
According to Soviet (Stalin), he wanted Ho Chhi Minh to exterminate all Lao and Khmers. (I am still looking for a document that Soviet killed too many Khmers and Thais (of Khmer Origins) by poison powder from the plane.
When Sihanouk knew the Communists may distrust him, he pretended to bark at Lon Nol and Sirimatak... so Communists let him into their ring. When they suspected Sihanouk was not truthful to them, they put him under house arrest...
Soviet spent about 10 billion US dollars to help Yuon Hanoi to take Cambodia and Laos. In addition to that Soviet did not trust Yuon Hanoi so China was given money by Soviet to supervise Yuon Hanoi to take Laos and Cambodia. (New History by John L Gaddis).
Now Yuon strategy is to go after Sihanouk and blame only him. The facts the poor man had no weapons or even a little power.

WWII Sihanouk declared Independence (not two provinces Siem Reap & Battambang) for Cambodia only to give it back to France, but after the WWII he demand it again in 1953 for his own country not for France.
After house arrest, he escaped to China, asking China for help...then Vietnam invasion in 1979 kicking Pol Pot out. Then Sihanouk flew to US yelling and accusing Vietnam of invading his country and being the enemy from within.
The Viets had to go to beg Thailand to interfere talking to Sihanouk...

Is this based on fact or it's just your own believe? I have read from Wikipedia website, it's said: Hinduhism destroyed over a thousands buddhist buddhas, is that good or bad?
Every religions is good, but it's the matter how you practiced it, but to destroy other religion status is something else. Take Al Qaida as an example.
