Koh Tral remains a Khmer island and by international law, Khmers can reclaim it back. Using their dirty tricks (as has been for the past 400-500 years), the Viets blackmailed Hun Sen to sign border agreement, and ceded Koh Tral, which no kings or queen or leaders in the past had given it to the Viets.
The Viets knew full well that they could not take over Koh Tral, or any pieces of land from Cambodia by military force. So they played their trick. Theyt hand-picked Pen Sovann in hope that he would bend. But Pen Sovan did not bend. He was and still is a good man. He said if you are coming to help my people and country, why bring your people to settle on Tonle Sap Lake? The Viets did not like that, not one bit. They got angry and furiously fumed, like a child who cannot get he wants. The Viets locked Pen Sovan up and began torturing him.
They then hand-picked Hun Sen to be their puppet. Without delay, the Viets hurriedly forced Hun Sen to cede Koh Tral. But the Viets did not realize that in the eyes of the world community, Hun Sen was nothing more than a tool (not an official leader of a country). What Hun Sen agreed upon with the Viets was only between one self-served puppet and the puppet picker.
Some of our SE Asian friend still recognizes Koh Tral as Khmer land and not a Viet's. It is a big island, about 500sq.km (or about 300 square miles).
The Viets have no business in Cambodia or Laos. Why are they in Cambodia? Because they want land. Why are they in Laos? Because they want land. Indeed, your Uncle Ho's dream of making Cambodia and Laos as part of Viet. The Chinese move to different countries for one and only one reason, economic opportunity. But your people move to Cambodia and Laos not for economic reason, but for land and eventually turn Cambodia into Khmer Krom the 2nd. You see the trick? And there is no need for the Viets to build a huge cultural center in Luang Prabang in our friends' capitol of Laos. You see the dirty trick?
Well, like I said, Hun Sen is not an official representative of Cambodia. Why? Because he was hand-picked by the Viets. For what reason? For land. The Viets stuck the gun in his head and podded him to cede the land, or else. Hun Sen would not declare civil war with his people in 1997 unless he got the backing from the Viets, just like the Viets would not invade Cambodia without the backing from the then Soviet Union.
I'm quite sure that when Cambodia has a true leader, she will protect her interest, like other nations. That is the job of a leader, to protect and serve the interest of his nation and people. No one in the right mind gives even an inch of land, let alone Koh Tral, to any foreign entity, unless he is not Khmer. And yes, that proves that Hun Sen is nothing but a tool for the Viets.

I feel so outraged at the island-grabbing by the Viet thieves and the enemy within, namely Hun Sen. Shame on Mr Brevie for putting Koh Tral under the Viet control. If you look at the American map of Cambodia, it also shows that Koh Tral Island belongs to Cambodia. Currently, the Island of Koh Tral is considered part of the Vietnamese province of Hatien. Well, if you read up on the history of that former Khmer province of Hatien, the Khmer King had allowed a Chinese man named Maccu to develop the area and even in the Vietnamese history, the Island of Koh Tral has never been apart of the province of Hatien at all. Even the late Chinese Premier Chou Enlai said that the island of Koh Tral is part of Cambodia. I feel so disgusted at Hun Sen, the thug, who behaves spinelessly with the land-grabbing thieves. We must find a way to reclaim our island of Koh Tral back. It has always been ours since the beginning of time, and it ain't going to change any time soon. We must find ways to get it back from the predatory Viets.
A high school textbook that is almost 30 years old proves Cambodian land was lost to Vietnam under Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia Watchdog Council Rong Chhun claimed yesterday. The book, used to teach seventh-graders geography under Hun Sen’s Ministry of Education in 1985, says the island of Koh Tral belonged to Cambodia at the time, Chhun said.
The evidence in 1982 treaty showed Koh Tral, and group of isles associated with Koh Krorchork Ses included 40,000 sq. km of maritime border are already ceded to Yuon annexation. And the supplementary appendixes signed by Hun Sen-Nguyen Co Thach in 1983,1985 indicating the measurement and scale used in mapping varied from 1/100,000 to 1/50,000. This violates the current Constitution. In 1986, on behalf of Cambodians, Singapore lodged a protest to the United Nations Council.

From the above comments, it is no doubt that Hun Sen is the culprit who ceded Kas Tral to Vietnam under the treaties signed with Nguyen Co Thach from 1982 to 1985 and ratified in 2005.

Aren't the Viets rejected by Chinese society, then ended up encroaching into Khmer land? They had no birth place. They encroached my property line in u.s. and got fucked by u.s. law; it's in their blood to take things of others!
