On October 11, 2005, Mam Sonando, the owner-manager of Sambok Khmum (Beehive) FM 105 Mhz radio station, was illegally arrested by the authority for broadcasting an interview with Sean Pengse, the President of the Cambodia's Border Committee based in France. The interview gave an overview of the historical background of the illegal treaties concluded between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and its protégé, the People's Republic of Kampuchea. On the Cambodian side, the illegal treaties were mainly signed by Heng Samrin, currently a Vice-President of the National Assembly, and Hun Sen, the current Prime Minister of Cambodia, during the heyday of the military occupation of Cambodia by Vietnam.
Mam Sonando's arrest followed shortly after Hun Sen's signature in Hanoi of an addtional convention to the 1985 illegal treaties. Currently, Mam Sonando is incarcerated at the Prey Sar jail. Visit on Mam Sonando in jail was denied by the jail authority.
