Cambodia is a "democracy" when it comes to spending state/public funds for personal use, albeit somewhat "twisted" democracy

In recent attacks against Prince Norodom Ranariddh, his government coalition partner, Prime Minister Hun Sen criticized the prince for bringing his second wife with him for public function at the SEA Games held in Manila, the Philippines, and thus uselessly spending state/public funds for personal pleasure. As it turns out, in September 2005, Hun Sen also brought along his wife to the 60th UN General Assembly, as the photo above testify. Obviously, travel expenses incurred by Mrs. Bunrany Hun Sen was most likely borne by funds disbursed by the Royal Government of Cambodia coffer also. Based on the Ranariddh and Hun Sen cases, it can be concluded that Cambodia is a "democracy" when it comes to spending public funds for personal use, albeit somewhat "twisted" democracy. Political leaders have equal opportunity in abusing state/public funds. Who says there is no twisted democracy in Cambodia? (Photo: CNV)
