Prince Norodom Sirivudh, former secretary-general and recently named as interim president of Funcinpec, had resigned from his position as interim president.
The news of his resignation follows the vote of no confidence on his position as vice-prime minister and co-minister of interior during the National Assembly session held on 21 March.
In the Prince’s letter dated Tuesday, Prince Norodom Sirivudh wrote to Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh requesting the latter’s authorization for his resignation because the new secretary-general of the party has already been attributed to Mr. Nhiek Bun Chhay.
Norodom Sirivudh expressed in the letter his loyalty and his duty towards Prince Norodom Ranariddh and the Funcinpec party as he had been since 1987 during the fight along the border.
