A senior Funcinpec party member was removed from his government position. According to a royal decree dated 31 March 2006, Mr. Khem Veasna was removed from his position as governor of the province of Stung Treng. He will be replaced by Mr. Lay Sophat.
In the recent past, a number of senior Funcinpec party officials were also removed from their position: they are Mr. Lam Bun Pa removed from his position of governor of Kandal province, Mr. Heng Chantha removed from governor of Banteay Meanchey province, and Mr. Sim Son removed from governor of Siemreap province. Mr. Mam Bun Neang was also removed from his position of vice-governor of Phnom Penh.
