People living in Pailin city who are mostly former Khmer Rouge soldiers, before being integrated into society by the government, say that they do not wish to see any Khmer Rouge leader being punished.
These people ask the U.N. supported special tribunal to find justice for the former Khmer Rouge leaders whom they respect and are grateful to, including Khieu Samphan, Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, and Pol Pot.
Contrary to other people who await the Khmer Rouge tribunal impatiently, these former soldiers demand amnesty for their leaders saying they did nothing wrong and are their heroes.
In an interview with VOA, these soldiers defend and praise their leaders.
Pailin provincial governor Y Chhean says that the people of Pailin are not surprised about the Khmer Rouge tribunal, and they let the court make decisions.
He says that there are from 50,000 to 60,000 former Khmer Rouge soldiers living in the area.
NGO Comfrel director Kuol Panha says that these soldiers' comments are justified because all men are presumed innocent before the sentences.

Come on murderers. After killing 2 millions, you are lucky still walking free. If it is in IRAQ, all of your heads would be burned, blown off in pieces. I'm very surprised that your leader Pol Pot's tomb still not get burned. You are evils and siners.
