Well-known political commentator Lao Mong Hay said on Wednesday that he was turning down a position as personal aide to Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Son Chhay, despite having been appointed to the position by King Norodom Sihamoni in a June 10 royal decree. Lao Mong Hay wrote in an email from Hong Kong that he did not wish to be affiliated with any political party. "No. I'm not going to leave my job in Hong Kong. I’ll remain as I am. I won’t join any party," he wrote. Son Chhay claimed on Tuesday that Lao Mong Hay had agreed to take the position and that that was why he sent his nomination to the King. "I didn't force him to join the Sam Rainsy Party," Son Chhay said, adding that Lao Mong Hay could still be an aide in Hong Kong, as he only needed his ideas and not his actual presence in Cambodia.

Whatever Dr. Lao Mong Hay! Mr. Son Chhay had nominated you because of your title as Dr. and professor with experience in democratic value! Do you have something to contribute to Cambodian society? If you don't have anything to contribute to the well being of Cambodian society, please don't make an excuse that this is purely political appointment!

Cambodian people know how much you fear Mr.HUN SEN ! Well I suggested to you that you should fear no more! The only fear that you have to fear is the fear itself! Please take the nomination or leave it and don't make any excuse! Excuse is for looser!
