Kan Virak, the founder of the People Power Party, has changed his mind. Earlier on, he was determined that he will participate with Prince Sisowath Thomico in the plan for the announcement, on Thursday 27 July, for the formation of a new royalist political party led by Prince Thomico.

Kan Virak believed earlier that the announcement could unite a large number of political supporters from other political parties, especially at a time when he observes the difficulties facing by the royalist Funcinpec party.

The announcement of this new political party coincides with the news indicating that senior Funcinpec officials are preparing to invite Prince Norodom Ranariddh, president of Funcinpec, to return back home.

Kan Virak’s decision to pull out was because Prince Thomico said that at the announcement on Thursday, there will be no discussion of the new party as was previously planned. On Thursday, only the union [of the different parties] will be announced. As for the announcement of the name of the new party, it will only take place at the end of the year.

Kan Virak said that this is a lost of opportunity, and a waste of opportunity that his party cannot afford: “We have already decided yesterday that we will not participate. The most important problem is that one issue which forced us to decide not to participate because we will have to spend a lot of time, and we need to spend a lot of money. Therefore, we will lose both time and money. To wait until the official formation (of the party formation) in November, we will be too late, everything will be too late.”

The planned announcement for the union of several political parties coincides with the news indicating that Funcinpec officials are planning to invite Prince Ranariddh to return back home from abroad. These officials will go meet the prince this Saturday in Malaysia.

Serey Kosal, a senior Funcinpec official, declined to comment on the whereabout of the meeting venue between Funcinpec officials and Prince Ranariddh, however, he admitted that there will be an escort for the return of the prince to the country: “It will be specified later … the coming and going (of the prince), I should not talk about it.”

Prince Norodom Ranariddh left Cambodia for several months already. Rumors about his return have been heard, but there was no truth about it.

For the current planned return of the prince, no commentators have provided the truthfulness of this information.

It seems to be the same my previous comment. Prince Naranarith will be back to Cambodia. What he was waiting for green light from Hun Sen.
Why Hun Sen kick him out from Cambodian politics? Hun Sen is communism and was installed by Vietnamese boss. So what he tried to do to eliminate all opponents including royal families even the King of Cambodia this is the goal. But everything depend on time
We have to look back to the past. He used Oung Hout against Prince then used prince himself against Sam Rainsy. Hun Sen gave money plane and agree all so call 73 point that have stall almost a year to form the government. Beside that he agree to spit power
In government to Funsinpec and told prince to lure all Sam rainsy member who was hungry with power to join with Funsinpec promises to gat post in government. This way He tries to divide and eliminate. Now look at the end he Brock all his the promises and kick prince out of the country and he tried really hard to replace with Bun Chhay but now everything completely reverse because due to prince Thomico wanted to create the other royal party. Hun Sen will need prince Naranarith back and use as a Pont play with Thomico. The worse is prince Nararith never learn from his mistake and he will work for Hun Sen again. They both will husband and wife again as what CPP said but for how long this is the question?
