Protest on Behalf of Two Arrested Rubber Plantation Workers

On August 4, 2006, Mr. Mao Munyvann, Member of Parliament from the Sam Rainsy Party will accompany 173 families who will stage a protest in front of the Provincial Court, Kompong Cham Province.
On August 2, 2006, two workers Mr. Tang Heng, 45 and Mr. Hor Nguon Leng, 63 from the Boeng Ket rubber plantation in Stung Trang District, Kompong Cham were arrested. Another worker was fired. The two workers were arrested after seeing King-Father Norodom Sihanouk at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh on July 31, 2006.
The President of Boeng Ket Rubber Plantation, Oknha (Lord) Sim Vanna accuses the two workers of leading hundreds of landless villagers in an attempt to claim land that, according to Oknha, belongs to his company.
