More than 30 members of the Sam Rainsy Party's board of directors have said the party should only form an "Alliance of Nationalists" with Funcinpec if the royalists remove Prince Norodom Ranariddh as their president, SRP officials said Tuesday.
Thirty-three board members also said at a Monday meeting that Sam Rainsy should be the head of any such alliance, which Prince Ranariddh has proposed forming prior to the 2008 national elections, SRP Acting Secretary-General Meng Rita said.
The members said at party headquarters that if the royalists will not replace Prince Ranariddh, they should dissolve Funcinpec and join the SRP, he said.
"Most of the people don't want the SRP to join the alliance, but if [these] ideas are accepted, we will continue discussions towards a positive result," he said.
Meng Rita said the party no longer trusts the prince, as he has broken rank several times in previous election-time alliances with the SRP. "We are afraid Prince Ranariddh will cheat us again," he said. "Funcinpec only wants power and women," he said.
Ok Socheat, Prince Ranariddh's public affairs adviser, said the alliance will be formed. The SRP should forget the past and focus on the national interest, said Ok Socheat, adding that he met with Sam Rainsy on Monday to assure him that the prince's proposal was not a joke.
Sam Rainsy said no official decision has been made on the alliance.
Mu Sochua, an SRP member and former Fundnpec minister of women's affairs, said she was not interested in the proposal, adding that the SRP is busy with its constituencies.
Government spokesman and Information Minister Khieu Kanharith said the CPP will continue to work with Funcinpec as its coalition partner and noted that the royalists have not yet walked out of the government.

I appreciate the answer of Samrainsy. he must abstain to collaborate with Rannaridh again. This man is only interested in corruption and women.
I'm agree with Meng Rita's idea. If Funcipec wanted to jion SRP, you must remove Ranariddh from Funcipec party. This man is not good politician. If Cambodian people accept Ranariddh as a politician or Prime Minister Cambodia never have bright future. This man is just hunting for money and power.

The song is the old wild west song. It's the same thing over again and like father like son. You know by heart what I mean by these words. Flip and flop like a hamberger is the basic survival skills,a fundamental core, a natural born instinct and addiction, being existed in royal blood family and some others. You can't teach an old dog a new trick or leopard never changes it spots. Poor Prince is experiencing his post middle life crisis compound with vagued self identity resulted in confusion. He should have a therapist specializes in helping him to improve self coping/identifying problem solving mechanism/skills.
If Prince Naranarith want to save Funcinpec from disappear. He has to get out the way and let Funcinpec members to form alliance with SPR under leader ships of Sam Rainsy. Other why Funcinpec party will fall into Hun Sen hand then he destroys all at 2008. So please make up your mind if your patriotism and love Cambodian people. You did a lot of mistake before and you never learn from it. This is the last chance for you prove to Cambodian people. You good not the same what is Hun Sen said but if you still want to get power, money and women. You will jail or kill by Hun Sen. Please learn Hun Sen need you only when he want to reach his goal. Be smart!!!!! You political professor not people from juggle. This is my advice to prince.
SRP "must not" join with FUNCINPEC with or without Ranarith. It's a cheating trick again.
If SRP don't learn a lesson, you will go to hell with the Prince.

Please help Cambodia by going into your retirement. You have enough money.You are over 60 years of age. You have beautiful La Phala on your side. You have about 10 to 15 years of precious time in your life, before you are falling to some serious illness or decease. It's the fact of life that you like other people on this planet will not be living forever. Leave Cambodia to a good- honest men and women. Enjoy your time while your still have, because it soon will be over.
You did us a huge favor by quiting. We thought that you at least come to your sence by doing the right thing going into your retirement. Please don't change and go find your hubby and happiness some place else. Life is not all politic and power.
He is not going to quit. FCP members have to walk away from him and join SRP. When they stop working for him or worship him, he is nothing.
Why do we still have a bunch of stupid politicians who follow Ranarith.
Anyone collaborate with Narrariddh must be a traitor and sex-mania as well. This is a time for Funcipec members to prove yourself that you are not like Narrariddh. To the eyes of Khmer people and foreigners, Narrariddh is a professor in bushtit and champion in killing his supporters in silent!
