Police in Singapore are cooperating with Cambodian authorities to secure the return of former Phnom Penh municipal police chief Heng Pov, National Police Commissioner Hok Lundy said Tuesday.
Police in Phnom Penh and in Kandal province's Takhmau district searched houses belonging to Heng Pov Tuesday, seizing $300,000 in cash, two cars and other items as evidence, police said.
"We have confiscated $300,000 from a safe at Heng Pov's villa in Takhmau district today," said Mok Chito, Interior Ministry penal police department chief. The cash has been sealed in plastic to preserve it as evidence, he added.
"Heng Pov … is still hiding abroad in Singapore and we're now collaborating with Singaporean police to find him," Hok lundy said by telephone.
"Prime Minister Hun Sen asks me three times a day, 'Did you arrest him yet or not?'" he added.
William Chik, first secretary at the Singaporean embassy, said he knew nothing more than what has so far been reported in the press. "I can't confirm or deny anything," he said.
Keo Vanthan, first deputy director of Cambodia's Interpol office in Phnom Penh, said no international warrant has been issued for Heng Pov.
"I don't know where my husband is," said a woman answering a telephone believed to be that of Heng Pov’s wife.
Heng Pov is wanted in connection with the 2003 assassination of Phnom Penh Municipal Court Judge Sok Sethamony, as well as the attempted assassinations of three other people, Hok Lundy said on Monday, adding that Heng Pov has been removed from his position as a security advisor to Hun Sen and as Interior Ministry undersecretary of state.
Hok Lundy on Tuesday denied a report that police had in fact detained Heng Pov on Sunday evening.
"If Heng Pov were in Prey Sar prison, we wouldn't hide this information because we have a warrant in our hands to arrest him," he said, adding that keeping the detention secret would be illegal.
At Heng Pov’s Kandal province home on Monday, police seized nine firearms, including high-powered assault rifles, as well as $30,000 in counterfeit US currency, police said.
A Tuesday morning search at a Phnom Penh house belonging to the wanted former police commissioner also turned up potential evidence, which was to be stored at the Interior Ministry, Mok Chito said.
"In Heng Pov’s house in Chroy Changva commune, Russei Keo district today, we found two cars and some documents which we are still examining," he said.
Inside one late-model sedan, police found bulletproof vests, spare police license plates, the shirts belonging to the uniforms for low-ranking police officers and a government "service" passport as well as an ordinary one, both issued to a low-ranking police officer.
Deputy municipal police chief Pol Piethey said it was as yet unclear where this evidence would lead. "We need to investigate first," he said.
Kuy Luy Nuon, 46, who has worked for a year as a guard at the Phnom Penh villa, said Heng Pov usually used the house during working hours.
"I rarely went inside the house," he said. "But usually Heng Pov went to visit the house during the day and most of those staying here were women."

This the plane what Hun Sen need to shut up Hang pov by arrest him put in jail then kill him like Ta Mok or Pisith Pilika, there a lot of question has to be answer by Hun Sen government. Hang pov has three wifes exspencive house and a lot of money compare to his salary !
