Cambodian PM expects to push forward friendly, cooperative ties with China
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Monday in Phnom Penh that the friendly and cooperative relations between his country and China was now on its historical high and should be enhanced continuously in order to benefit both peoples.
Chinese and Cambodian leaders exchanged high-level visits frequently, which kept on promoting the political trust between both sides, said Hun Sen while meeting with visiting Chinese Finance Minister Jin Renqing.
China had unconditionally extended sincere aid to Cambodia, which in effect helped the country maintain political stability and economic development, he said, adding that his country was obsessed with very low GDP (gross domestic product) on average basis and was in dire need of foreign aid.
The two countries established full-scale friendly and cooperative partnership and signed a series of economic and technology agreements this April when Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao paid visit to Cambodia, said Hun Sen.
Currently, said Hun Sen, the preparation was well done by both sides to take these agreements into effect and Cambodia expected to sign all the concerned documents this October when China and ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) hold a summit in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of their dialogue partnership.
Meanwhile, Jin said that China would make efforts to materialize the agreements signed by both countries this April in order to promote the bilateral ties.
China would continue extending aid to Cambodia unconditionally and hoped the country to enjoy political stability, economic development and improvement of people's living under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Jin arrived here on Sunday at the invitation of Cambodian Finance Minister Keat Chhon. He will leave here on Wednesday for Vietnam to attend the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) Finance Ministers' Meeting.
