The National Election Committee (NEC) has announced the preliminary results of 270,000 new voters among 570,000 voters.
In a conference on Thursday, NEC official, Mr. Havana Sivilai, says that within a few days NEC has corrected 200,000 voter registration mistakes. They have done this by removing 20,000 names of those who have died or have changed their addresses.
Mr. Sivilai says that there are approximately 7 millions who are eligible to vote this year. Currently, there are approximately 570,000 registered voters.
The Committee for Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia's (COMFREL) representative, Mr. Ma Sophal cites irregularities in many provinces. The problems are due to the closing of voter registration offices, communal chiefs' leave, secretaries leaving work early, etc.
