The Cambodian Prime Minister made Wagga, in southern New South Wales, his only regional stopover on a visit to Charles Sturt University yesterday.
Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit reflected the developing links between Australian and Cambodian research at the EH Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation at the university.
Its director, Dierdre Lemerle, says the Prime Minister has shown a keen interest in the centre's aim to help Cambodia develop its research capabilities.
"He's very enthusiastic about agriculture and very keen that we link in with the Cambodian Agricultural Research Centre, so we'll be doing that in the future because the constraints to agriculture that are happening worldwide are the same in Cambodia or southern NSW," she said.
"We're getting climage change, variable weather, risk management in agriculture is becoming more difficult."
