Prince Norodom Ranariddh had petitioned to form a new political party using his own name for the new party.

Serei Kosal, special representative of the prince in Cambodia, talked to RFA on 27 Oct about the steps taken to petition for the formation of the new party: currently, the petition has already been sent to the Ministry of Information, and Serei Kosal hopes that the authority will approve [the petition] in the near future.

Serei Kosal said: “The application for the formation of the new party was done on 27 Oct, the Ministry of Interior already received our application. We are now waiting for two weeks before we have the full right to raise signs for the new party all over the country as stipulated in the political party law.”

Serei Kosal believes that members of the old Funcinpec party will join the Norodom Ranariddh party in large number: “If we talk about the members, we believe that almost all over the country, the old Funcinpec (spirit) did not disappear. Most likely they will join here [the Norodom Ranariddh party] because in summary, real Funcinpec leaders have been given a hard time for a while already, right now these members will come back. I believe almost all of them will come back except for those who currently hold government positions, they are afraid because they have been threatened, just as what the national and international opinion had heard about these public threats.”

I thought they banned the Royal Family from getting them in the political arena. The royal pain in the rear end have done so much inflicting pain for the citizens already. New party, fresh new ideas for further corruption and stalling the anti-corruption law.

Anyway, I wanted to see his father on trial on upcoming KRT for killing all those Khmers.
