(Thai) Supreme Commander visits Cambodia [to discuss border issues]

(TNA) - Newly-appointed Thai Supreme Commander Boonsang Niampradit left Bangkok on Wednesday for a one-day visit to Cambodia in self-introduction and discussion on border issues.

Gen. Boonsang said it was a tradition for military leaders when newly taking office to visit the military leaders of countries of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) to introduce themselves as well as meeting their counterparts in neighbouring countries and discussing military cooperation.

He said he would meet Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh and Supreme Commander Kae Kim Yan for discussions on general cooperation including cross-border drug smuggling, terrorism and illegal workers.

Gen. Boonsang said he would return to Thailand Wednesday evening.
