New Web Site To Provide In-Depth Look at Tribunal

The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia has unveiled a new bilingual Web site to inform the general public on how the long-awaited tribunal is progressing.
Located at www.eccc.gov.kh, the Web site will eventually offer audio and video recordings of trial proceedings and court orders; moreover it will soon be available in French, in addition to Khmer and English according to tribunal public affairs chief Helen Jarvis.
The Web site, which was launched Thursday, presents press releases and information on tribunal staff and offices, as well as job opportunities.
It also features photos of staff and the tribunal's compound on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, though much of the data announced—such as information on the defense office, the judicial chambers and the co-prosecutors—have not yet been installed.
"Of course, it requires access to the Internet," Jarvis said Sunday, adding that the Web site was part of the tribunal's effort to inform the public about its work.
"Realistically speaking, use of the Web site is probably limited to the urban population," she said. The new site will eventually replace the 3-year-old, less polished site at www.cambodia.gov.kh/krt.
Youk Chhang, director of the Documentation Center of Cambodia, said the new Web site would be most helpful to Cambodians living abroad and to English speakers. But the Khmer version probably won't get much use as many Cambodians don't have access to the Internet, he said.
So far this year, DC-Cam has brought over 5,000 Khmer Rouge survivors to visit the tribunal premises in nine monthly field trips, he said, adding that he hopes the tribunal will continue to send its staff to the provinces to inform the Cambodian public about the ECCC's work.
Jarvis said tribunal staff intend to increase their trips to rural Cambodia. "We are going out into the provinces and we will be doing it increasingly," she said.

Most poor still find way to listen to radio broadcasting news.Try thinking out of Doughnut hole for once in a while that may help in growth process.
ECCC shall produce and broadcast its information via radio,if its intent is sincere not a cosmetic one to kosher with Kampuchea Communist and Viet Minh Communist People Revolution Party too much.
Try get out of jar a bit more often you see the world is not flatten.
By the way,ECCC should add CPP official dialect Tien Vie, Sihanouk diplomatic dialect Mao mandarin,and Nuon Chea mother language Siam on its new site.
That way it will be a complete extra ordinaire chamber of smoke screen by Jar mouth doing.
