SRP Activist Suspected of Hitting Officer

Kompong Cham provincial police are seeking to arrest an SRP activist accused of assaulting a CPP commune police chief during a brawl at a dance in O’Reang-ou district, Provincial Governor Hun Neng said Tuesday.

But Mao Monyvann, an SRP lawmaker for the province, said the allegations are false and politically motivated, and that SRP activist San Ho tried to break up the fight Saturday night but was beaten by police at the scene.

Hun Neng, who is a brother of Prime Minister Hun Sen, said police will arrest San Ho.

"We will arrest him even though he hides in a cricket hole," he said.

Preah Theat commune police chief Chor Hay said he has filed a complaint with the provincial court and the Interior Ministry against San Ho, 45, and is seeking $1,250 in compensation.

"He beat me about my face and chest," Chor Hay said.

According to Chor Hay, a fight broke out at a dance and he was called in to intervene. On arrival, San Ho lashed out at him to prevent his son, who was a participant in the fight, from being grabbed by the police.

Chor Hay said he handcuffed San Ho and took him to the commune police station, but later in the evening the SRP activist was freed by a mob of about 20 men who stormed the building.

"They threatened to throw a grenade at the police office, and then ran away with [San Ho] still handcuffed," Chor Hay claimed.

Mao Monyvann claimed that the fight was actually broken up by San Ho, but police arrested him anyway.

"Police beat him with their guns until they gashed his head," Mao Monyvann alleged.

Chor Hay acknowledged that San Ho had sustained a head wound, but claimed it occurred after San Ho attempted to attack him in the police station.

Mao Monyvann said that San Ho—who is currently at SRP headquarters in Phnom Penh— did not escape police custody because of an unruly mob, but rather slipped out while the policemen slept.

CPP police officers are alway an asshole. These culprits are criminals who always spend their time beating up people and robbing people. They got the gun to intimidate, threat, rob and stealing. Those criminals are always harassing SRP activist members and they got away with it all the times. As of Hun Nen is talking tough because his brother Hun Sen is the top gangster. But don't forget, all of you will be dead in someday, your time will come. You will be dead and your whole family.
