Cambodian ethnic minority villagers living in Rattanakiri province, near the Vietnamese border, reported that they have encountered two new groups of refugees hiding in the forest, who are looking for intervention from the UNHCR.

An anonymous villager indicated that the two groups were found by the villagers on 11 Nov. The groups consisted to 15 men and 5 women, all of whom are over 20-year-old. They fled from the district of Duc Co, Gia Lai province, Vietnam, because they were persecuted by the Vietnamese authority for their religious beliefs.

RFA could not reach Rattanakiri provincial authorities to obtain clarification of this presence [of Montagnards in the province] as Sunday was a holiday.

In September, UNHCR conducted a search in Rattanakiri and found 16 refugees from Vietnam. They were brought back to a camp in Phnom Penh.
