HANOI, Nov 17 Asia Pulse - Vietnam will levy 0 per cent tax on rice imported from Cambodia in accordance with an official letter signed recently by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung ordered an immediate halt to rice exports in the context of rising rice prices in the local market.

The price hike followed consecutive natural disasters and diseases on a large scale, notably brown-backed grasshoppers, grassy stunt virus and ragged stunt virus.

This will uplift the price of rice in Cambodia and will put pressure onto those landless and poor worker.

The Cambodian government must take full control of the rice exportation to ensure it doe not driven it domestic price, otherwise the poor will be starved.
