Prime Minister Hun Sen says that the government is pushing for the development of bilateral ties with Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam to strengthen economic and political stability along the Cambodian border.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony Wednesday, Hun Sen says the goal is to curb poverty and ease the fear of those living along the border.
The proposed development projects are viewed as a way to defend Cambodian neighbors from encroachment into the country.
Opposition party legislator Son Chhay also urges the government to directly observe the issues that the people are facing along the country’s border.
The proposed developmental projects will be in Mondukiri, Ratanakiri, and Stung Treng provinces.
