As much as his older brother, H.R.H. Sisowath Sirik Matak, betrayed me, that much his younger brother (born from the same Father and same Mother), Prince Sisowath Methavi, remained faithful and devoted to me until the end.
A career soldier of the Khmer Royal Army (KRA), Methavy knew, while serving his Homeland, how to serve me by dedicating all his time, all his noble efforts, body and soul.
When the March 18, 1970 coup d’état occurred, he did not follow score of his KRA comrades who were lured by all the things that were promised to them in the name of the superpower and very rich USA, but he accepted, along with “Nanette,” to confront with me (Sihanouk) and Monique, my Wife, all difficulties, all obstacles, and to suffer all the humiliations and live in poverty, while always maintaining their head high.
Earlier (during the Sangkum Reastr Niyum era), he served me as an aide-de-camp [assistant] during my state visits overseas, and he had the honor of serving as aide-de-camp to important foreign Head of States who came on official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, in particular, to the very illustrious General de Gaulle.
“Nanette” had the honor of being the “lady-in-waiting” to Mrs. de Gaulle during all her historical stay in Cambodia in 1966.
Methavi (I apologize for using “2 spellings” to write down his name) also served the Kingdom, next the GRUNC-FUNC, as a resistant, and diplomat. He knew how to contribute courageously and very efficiently to resolve the problems of the FUNC-GRUNC outside of our country.
In 1973, he was charged by H.E. Prime Minister Chou En Lai of the P.R. of China to invite his Brother, Sirik Matak, to join me in Beijing. The great and prestigious Chou En Lai himself would go the Beijing International airport to welcome Sirik Matak, the important “[would-be-defector] to rejoin” N. Sihanouk, with all the military honors and others.
My beloved Methavi [then] knew his sole defeat as Patriot-Resistant, through the refusal of Sirik Matak to leave Lon Nol for Sihanouk.
In Paris, “Nanette” knew the humiliations inflicted by some Cambodian Lok Chumtievs [title of a wife of a high-ranking government official] who were in the past “very Sihanoukists.”
Walking one day, on the sidewalk, she (Nanette) saw walking “towards her,” one Cambodian Lok Chumtiev. The latter, when she saw “Nanette,” hurriedly … cross the street filled with cars … to go to the opposite sidewalk!
When I was able to return back to Cambodia which became [then] “Democratic Kampuchea” under Pol Pot, Methavy returned back home also. Following him, “Nanette” returned to the Homeland.
My beloved Methavi and “Nanette,” who are pure Patriots, Resistants, anti-US Imperialism, were not used by the Khmer Rouge Angkar for hard, but honorable, labor.
This devilish Angkar send to the torture (undoubtedly) and to a most probably atrocious death my beloved and so faithful, so “Sihanoukists” Methavi and “Nanette.”
My heart is crying when I think about Him and Her.
May Lord Buddha, the Celestial Powers, including our Kings and Queens, take them under their holly and royal Protection so that he and she only know Happiness, Peace and Serenity!

All are your faults Samdech Sihanouk. Cambodia was a kingdom, and why on earth do you prefer to side with the communist who hate you to death ? who despised you ,and who used you , and you should have known from the beginning, and you chose to ignore it why?. Had you sided with the WEST like the THAI, your kingdom may still preserved until today. Because of your policy not only Cambodia but also south vietnam as well were suffered. The West ,led by America, was trying to stop the flow of communism into Southeast Asia, but you ,Samdech Sihanouk, you prevented it from happening. Prince Sirimatak had betrayed Sihanouk by defending Cambodia against Ar Chor Youn-Chlean Pean.
