A report carried by the Cambodian Government-run Phnom Penh Television Kampuchea in Cambodian at 0500 GMT on 23 January said that at a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen on 22 January, Kathleen Stephens, deputy assistant secretary in charge of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, said that the United States had "changed its attitude in providing aid to Cambodia" by giving it "directly to the Cambodian Government," instead directly to nongovernmental organizations and civil society groups as previously.
The report added that the US deputy assistant secretary also "highly valued the efforts by the Royal Government in especially improving economic growth beyond expectation." Moreover, she voiced her "support for the Cambodian Government's preparations for the commune and precinct council polls in early April 2007 and general election in 2008."
The report said that in his reply, the Cambodian prime minister said the efforts by the Cambodian Government were to "make sure that reforms and good governance were effected" in order to enable Cambodia to "prosper more strongly in implementing democracy and political stability as well as further promoting economic growth."
Hun Sen also "stressed that Cambodia would try its utmost to reinforce and tighten cooperation, especially the anti-terrorism cooperation, with the United States," the report concluded.

Yes, but it ain't going to help
unless we work multilaterally with
all our neighbors. And that should
be obvious to the US if they have
a drop of brain in their head.
And only with Somdach Hun Sen
leadership can such a mission be
accomplished.
viva hun xen!
The cooperation with the US to fight terrorism is just to confuse Cambodia people and international community. Accually, he himself is a terrorist. A terrorism had happened in 30-Mar-97 in front of the national Assembly that caused people death 19 person and injured nearly 200. Up to now, he is inability to find the persons who commited crime, or may be it involved in him or his subordinates. So, don't beleive what HUN SEN had said.
Hun Sen tries to falsely display himself as a terrorist eliminator just to get more help/money from the US so that he can terrorize Khmer. Has he ever sent any Cambodian troops out of the country to combat terrorist beside accusing and killing the opposition? Nope! Ah Somdach Hun Sen sucks. He knows how to destroy Combodia for Youn, sucks Khmer blood worse than a vampire, and let them live in hell waiting to died painfully while he enjoys his so called "happiness" of torture.
Paper and lips service.
