An arrow struck a member of the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) Monday night while Ya Yeng was conversing with friends, according to local officials.
Thboung Khumum’s communal chief believes that the incident was politically motivated. He tells VOA Khmer that, “Ya Yeng is a local barber, and he has never had any problems with anyone”. He says the problem occurred after the victim joined Cambodia’s opposition party.
Local mayor Sin Sithov, however, is not convinced that the incident was due to the victim’s political preferences.
Meanwhile, Cambodia Center for Human Rights (CCHR) investigator Chan Cheng says that the assault could be stir by politics, because of the country’s upcoming communal council election.

Right of the bat, I have to say
that that is no political
motivated incident.
It is case of an unknown loyalist
who lost control over their hatred
toward the SRP. And it aint unique,
LOL.
The only solution is to have more
police officers, but we don't have
the budget for it. Moreover, it
is hard to get people to work cheap
and not corrupted. So what is the
use of getting more polices.
This is a huge challenge for poor
country. However, if by some
miracle, we can get out of poverty,
all these issues will be history.
And then we'll need to keep praying
that history will never happen
again, ant that is also another
challenge of its own, because
somehow we always failed to
recognized the root of the problem.
Do we have to die one by one, day by day, suffering for generation?
Please get the killer lawless Dictator out of our back! REFORME THE BLOODY HANDS: Cambodia Royal Police and army!
