Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) officials accuse Prince Norodom Sirivudh, the former Funcinpec secretary-general, of lying in front of the Phnom Penh municipal court yesterday while he was acting as a witness providing clarification on the sale of Funcinpec party’s headquarters.
Muth Channtha, NRP spokesman, told RFA that on Friday, Prince Sirivudh’s claim made in front of the court that he does not know about the sale of the Funcinpec party’s headquarters, is simply not true.
Muth Channtha said: “The prince [Sirivudh] did not know anything, that’s not true. In reality, Prince Sirivudh annotated on the report prepared by the construction committee that he agrees to the sale of the headquarters for $3.6 million, and Prince Ranariddh only agrees to the annotation and the signature of Prince Sirivudh in his position as Funcinpec secretary-general.”
NRP officials show a document dated 10 July allegedly bearing the annotation which the officials claim to be that of Prince Sirivudh.
NRP spokesman said that Prince Ranariddh will return back to Cambodia at the end of February, and that the prince instructed his defense lawyer to request a delay for the date of his court appearance to 05 March. This court appearance would be to provide an answer to the accusations made by Nhiek Bun Chhay who accuse the prince of involvement in the corruption sale of Funcinpec party’s headquarters.

The royal family of cambodia has become more of tabloid media than seriuos politics. You have a former King who never once said he support democracy. A King who is nothing more than a puppet to Hunsenims. A Prince whose brain is down in his pants. Yes there should be law banning royal family from politics. If they (royal family) wants to be in politic, they should give up thier titles and become a a regular citizen.
Why should anyone want royals to be the same as non-royals?
Leave them in a group that keeps on degrading themselves.

It is the right answer Sirivuth has offered. He told that there was a coomittee who met and decided to sell and he just implemented the order or decision of the committee. Now it is the judges who have to dig out this secret if they are not bias.
Usually all KIng honour should have been done through nominations from the public and NGO organisations to have any individual to the King for King Honour. But Sihanouk has done this to all of his children and family withour nomination from the public. He wanted all Cambodian to live in lower society than all of his family and his friends. In reality each individual should have done a great job to their community and their Nation before they can earn this kind of Honour. Such as Sireivuth, once he has been calling a liar, then his Samdech title mean nothing !!!
Hello Poster 3:20AM, You are wrong. The judge has no duty to dig out all the secrets. It is a job of the police or the job of both plaintif and defender. The palintif and defender must submit all their affidavits to the judge. The judge will give his judgement through debating with both lawyer representing both plaintif and defender.

Let us rebuild the royal family with love and respect. Royal family no need get into politic, politic is a dirty business.

King should have Royal family representative at each province and district that people can contact or relate to our believe.
