Many "uneducated" and "illiterate" Mexican immigrants work 2 to 3 jobs on minumum wage. However, they sacrafice their energy for their kids, so that future generations can attend college to become doctors, lawyers, and engineers. This is in contrast to developing countries, where you can work as much as you want, but unless you are well connected, your kids will never become anything.
The big difference is "opportunity". America, while far from perfect, grant it's people more opportunity than most other countries. If you attend school, understand how business works in America, and learn how to invest, you or any average Joe can become millionaires....without ever kissing anyone's butt.
