A U.S. navy warship will make its first five-day dock in the port of Sihanoukville on February 9th, for the first time in 30 years.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen military ties between the two countries, this according to Admiral Gary Roughead.
U.S. embassy announces Thursday that there will be a news conference with admiral Gary Roughead, a commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Ambassador Joseph Mussomeli- however, the date has yet to be determined.
Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Banh hopes that the visit will mark a beginning of a strong navy-to-navy relationship with Cambodia and America. Since the 1997 coup d'état, the United States has halted military assistance to the country.
