The appeal court is planning to hold a hearing on Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun case on 06 April, after a delay of more than 5 months. RFA reported that the appeal court will hold a hearing in the 2 men’s case and decide whether they will remain in jail or will be released from the accusation on the killing of union leader Chea Vichea on 22 January 2004. Dr. Pung Chiv Kek, president of the Licadho NGO said that there are new additional proofs showing that Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun are not the killers of Chea Vichea. She said that the main proof was provided by the owner of the newspaper stand who witnessed the killing of Chea Vichea. The stand owner said that the killer of Chea Vichea does not look like Born Samnang nor Sok Sam Oeun, and that there is no doubt about it. Heng Pov, the former Phnom Penh police chief who is currently jailed, said that the two are not the killers, and that he arrested the two from orders of his superiors.
