An anonymous official from the Pailin city hall told Kampuchea Thmei that the house belonging to Khieu Samphan located near Phsar Prum market, had been sold. Khieu Samphan allegedly bought a house in Phnom Penh.
The same official indicated that Khieu Samphan has three homes: one next to border, at the location of the Phsar Prum market, which has been sold, this house was used for meetings by high-ranking Khmer rouge officials during the wartime; his second home is located in Din Neav village, Pailin commune, the house is used for raising duck and for planting [vegetables]; and the third house is located at the Kaun Khlong village in O’Ta Vao commune, Pailin city. This last house was his latest residence before he moved to live in Phnom Penh more recently.
Khieu Samphan’s house was sold two weeks ago for more that $10,000. Khieu Samphan’s neighbors said that his relatives told others that Khieu Samphan had to sell the house because he needed money to buy a house in Phnom Penh. Furthermore, the official indicated also that Khieu Samphan could sell his third house also, and he will keep only his second house for raising ducks and for planting, and also for his younger sibling to live in. The buyer of Khieu Samphan’s house is an army officer from Pailin city.
People living in Pailin city, even though they knew that he is a former Khmer Rouge leader during the mass killing period, still consider him as a good man. Khieu Samphan’s departure is most likely linked to the progress of the KR tribunal towards charging former KR leaders who are still alive.
Reach Sambath, spokesman of the KR Tribunal, said that up to now, Khieu Samphan has not been accused yet and that he has the right to live free like any ordinary citizen, for as long as there are no charges brought on him.
Reach Sambath said that up to now, there are no charges leveled against anybody yet. Since its start and up to now, the co-prosecutors have initiated their investigation on 10 July 2006. Currently the tribunal is about to ratify its internal rules as a last step in the process. Reach Sambath said that the ratification would take place on 30 April 2007.
Nevertheless, the tribunal is now deadlocked because the Cambodian Bar Association (CBA) orders foreign lawyers to pay fees. Ky Tech, the CBA president, said that foreign lawyers must pay fees before they can fulfill their duties. These fees are divided into 3 portions: $200 monthly fee to act a lawyer, $500 initial membership fee, and $2,000 fee when a lawyer has been selected to defend someone.
Foreign judges are accusing the CBA of placing a hurdle on the KR tribunal by using fees money as a pretext. The foreign judges ask the CBA to lower these fees in order to provide a smooth operation of the tribunal.
However, Ky Tech, in turn, accuses the foreign judges of delaying the KR Tribunal work, because he claimed that the foreign judges are violating the sovereignty of a country. Ky Tech explained that foreign lawyers who are coming to practice in another country, must register with the country’s bar association first before conducting business. This is not different from private companies who want to do business in another country, they must abide by the law of that country.

A criminal like Khiev Samphan,ex Khmer Rouge leader, had some investments on properties which is contredicted to its original ideology of Communism :" We need only a smal bag, filling in stomack"
Now Khiev Samphan has more one small bag...perhaps a million bags?
And a good City life style or need a protection from Yuon & Hun Sen ?
Even the international court hasn't condemned for his crimes but we all knew that he was one of the biggest criminals of the 21 century. People like him deserve to be placed in a cage and feed the shark. Even he has educated through Cambodian tax payer to a highest level, but because of his birth was from animal sperm, his behaviours have still changed to animal style by killing others through his dangerous method. Animal is still animal!!!!
When you look at KHIEV SAMPHAN, one thing come to mind ,WHAT A WASTE?
This man earned Ph.D in economic and law, and instead of using his superior education to better his life and the country ,he screwed up big time and joint the KHMER ROUGE. Now he's getting old, penniless and who know,he may end up in jail for the rest of his life. This man ,khiev samphan ,and two of his friends HOU NIM and HOU YUN were brilliant khmer intellectuals in the 60th.....one thing that puzzle me the most is that he still serve POLPOT while the latter slaughtered his two best friends....
who can let us know the address details of Khieu Samphan where he is currently living?
