The SRP accuses National Election Committee (NEC) officials of removing a SRP activist from the voting list without proper explication and investigation to find out the truth first. The NEC removed the name of Mrs. Yin Kuy, a 75-year-old resident of Prey Romdeng commune, Kirivong district, Takeo province. She will not be able to vote on 01 April because of a falsified death certificate claiming that she was already dead.
Currently Mrs. Yin Kuy is still alive and well. On Thursday morning, she told a group of reporters that she is asking the NEC to provide her the rights to vote on 01 April. “Look at me, can you tell if I am dead or not? I’ve heard that my name is not there (voting list), they removed my name by saying that I am dead, that was yesterday.”
Mrs. Yin Kuy claimed that during the first mandate of the commune election, she was able to vote normally, but for this second mandate, she lost her right to vote. She said that according to official documents, the Prey Romdeng commune chief certified in October 2006 that she was still alive, but in the latest voting list, her name disappeared.
Regarding this issue, SRP officials sent a letter to the NEC requesting it to allow Mrs. Yin Kuy to vote normally, but the SRP recently received a reply from Tep Nytha, the NEC secretary-general, stating that Mrs. Yin Kuy’s name was removed because a death certificate was issued in her name, and there was no protest to this removal.
Mu Sochua, SRP Secretary-General, reacted to this situation at a press conference on Thursday: “This is an attempt to remove the name of SRP party members. Her children are party activists, and her family was the one which established the SRP party in the Prey Romdeng commune 10 years ago.”
The NEC’s Tep Nytha replied that it is too late to make arrangement to allow Mrs. Yin Kuy to vote: “We have all the necessary documents to remove her name. First, the village chief certified her death, next, the commune chief certified her death, therefore, all these documents are sufficient for the commune clerk to prepare all the paperwork for the NEC to remove her name.”
Hang Puthea, Nicfec director, said that this shows the lack of care by the NEC. He added that the NEC should review and give back to Mrs. Yin Kuy, her right to vote in order to maintain a fair election.

NEC is CPP and CPP is NEC. They both are working together and in the same boat. International community needs to remove whoever working for NEC from his or her position. They're no independent. They try to do whatever they can to make sure CPP wins the majority.
