Nov Sovathero, the state secretary at the Ministry of Information and Funcinpec spokesman, is sued by the Norodom Ranariddh Party for libel. The lawsuit was initiated after Nov Sovathero gave his reaction to the news that Prince Ranariddh had sued Nhiek Bun Chhay for breach of trust and document falsifications.
The lawsuit against Nov Sovathero was received by the court on 28 march. Muth Channtha, the prince’s spokesman, told Rasmei Kampuchea that the prince entrusted his rights to him to sue Nov Sovathero, and that the complaint has already reached the court. He said that Nov Sovathero used unacceptable words [against the prince]. Muth Channtha accuses Nov Sovathero of cursing Prince Ranariddh by referring to him as “a cornered dog is looking for a way to bite [back].”
Nov Sovathero claimed that he did not call the prince a dog or cat, he was only making a comparison. Nov Sovathero accuses the NRP spokesman of not understanding a comparative speech. Nov Sovathero said that he is not worried about the lawsuit.
Following the announcement that prince Ranariddh brought two lawsuits against Nhiek Bun Chhay, Funcinpec secreatry-general, Nov Sovathero reacted on 27 March by saying that the lawsuit on breach of trust and document falsifications, was brought up because the prince is cornered and he has no other mean to protect himself. He compared the case to that of “a corner dog looking for a way to defend itself.”
Muth Channtha said that the use of these words constitute a libel on the prince who is a member of the royal family. However, Nov Sovathero indicated that it was not like that, he did not call the prince a dog. He said that the lawsuit has no legal weight. Nov Sovathero added: “…they (NRP) call others as traitors, as coup de party people, and we didn’t say anything about these because we are politicians.”
Not long ago, there was a push to force royal family members to stay out of politics because, in politics, verbal attacks are unavoidable, however, the prince showed that he is not getting out of the political arena.

Ranariddh is a professor of french law or something like that, and he applies this to the jungle law. He will get no where, he's a goner.

My God, I cannot understand how can Rannarith sue someone for calling him something? How can this Rannarith become a Law professor for not even understanding this kind of case can be sue or not?
I am not a lawyer. But I believe that Rannarith can sue anyone for calling something? The Reason is so simple. If you want to sue someone except that person has caused you a damage. What damage has Nou Sovathearo has caused to rannarith by calling him something? Nothing !!!
First, Rannarith was a public man ( politician ). As a public man you are facing with criticism is very normal ( Free speeches ). If you cannot accepte this kind of life, you must resign from all public involvement. Only, if you someone has talked about your private life and you are not a public man, then you can sue people. Why, when someone has talked or write your privated life it will affect your ability to develop your private life in your private business. The lost of this, can be sued for a damage. If you are in public life, every can call you anything they like, because your decision can affect their life and the lives of others.

If you sue of Being Called ".. Cornered Dog.." You also should agree with PP Court of 18 month sentence to jail and also please accept automatically " Adultry Case"

Hello 3.07 PM, you have made very good point. If this silly Prince think that he can sue to Nou Sovathearo in PP Court, then he should accept this court verdict for him to go to jail already. It is so true. How can this stupid Prince has no brain to think this problem? He need you to be his advisor now!!!!!
