Sam Rainsy calls for protests at polling stations on April 1, 2007 by voters who are unfairly turned away by pro-CPP election officials

To All Cambodian Compatriots and Sam Rainsy Party Supporters

I, Sam Rainsy, President of the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP), am calling to all our Cambodian compatriots, as well as all Sam Rainsy Party supporters, to come out and vote in large numbers on April 1, 2007.

On this election day, if any compatriots or SRP supporters are prevented from voting by the election officials because of minor name differences or spelling discrepancies, please do not return back home before you are able to vote. Please remain at the polling station where your name appears on the polling station voting list to demand your voting rights, in conformance with the commune election law and the directives and guidelines issued by the National Election Committee.

While you demand your voting rights, local SRP activists, as well as SRP party leaders and Members of Parliament will intervene on the spot at your polling station. We will be accompanied by NGOs, national and international media, and election observers, to demand for your lawful rights to vote.

I am asking all our compatriots and all SRP supporters to come out to vote in large numbers on April 1, 2007, in order to decide your own destiny, and the future of our entire Nation.

Please accept my deepest affection and regards.

Sam Rainsy
Party President
Phnom Penh, 27 March 2007
