The Kompong Cham CPP party lodged a complaint to the Provincial Election Committee (PEC) accusing the SRP of contempt towards the “January 7” day (date of the Vietnamese army’s invasion of Cambodia), because the SRP took advantage of the election campaign season to use a sign discussing about the January 7 day to severely attack the CPP. [According to the Cambodia Daily, the banner posted on the SRP campaign car reads “Jan 7 is the day that the Vietnamese invaded”.] Sok Chhin the vice-president of the Kompong Cham PEC told the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper that he already received the complaint lodged by the CPP from Sromor commune, Cheung Prey district, against the SRP for using a sign bearing to the “Jan 7” day on a car, and criticizing the CPP. Heng Samrin, the president of the National Assembly and honorary president of the CPP, said that he plans to sue the SRP in Kompong Cham for contempt against the Jan 7 day also. The Cambodia Daily reported Heng Samrin saying that whether the election officials will resolve this issue or not, he will bring the case to the provincial court. Tep Nytha, the secretary-general of the NEC, said that is normal that during the election campaign season, political parties are confronting each other verbally, and that this is unavoidable. He added that according the law, the NEC can make arrangements for reconciliations.

I think this is good opportunity for Heng Samrin to bring this case put into the table again.
We are grateful that this dish would be tasted by people around the table that:
1. The invasion of VN in January 7, 1979 is critical and hot issue for Cambodia nowaday? or
2. The trial of dead few KR leaders who are already surrendered hotter?
It is true or false that January 7, 1979 is the invasion?
Let see, how Khmer people now compare these two distinctive situations?
It is critical that whenever Cambodian people talk about Vietname invasion and enchroaching Cambodian border land, it is always more sensitive than bloody coup detat, daylight shotting, curruption and land grabbing...etc
