The Open Society Justice Initiative, which was threatened with visa revocation of its staff after reporting a system of widespread kickbacks within the Khmer Rouge tribunal, will go ahead with training for members of the tribunal in New York, officials said Tuesday.

OSJI will host prosecutors at its parent organization, the Open Society Institute, at a cost of $60,000, officials said.

The tribunal is facing a deepening crisis, as UN-appointed and Cambodian judges have failed to agree on rules to govern the trials of former Khmer Rouge leaders. OSJI came under heavy pressure recently by reporting it had found that Cambodian judges paid kickbacks to sit on the tribunal.

A co-prosecutor for the tribunal, Robert Petit, said the OSJI seminar would focus on the mission of the tribunal and the role of prosecutors.

No date has yet been set for the training.
