A number of civil society officials and political party figures are ready to report to Yash Ghai, the UN Special Envoy on Human Rights in Cambodia, about the human rights problems, the poor living condition sustained by Cambodian people after losing their lands, etc… Yash Ghai is expected to officially visit to Cambodia at the end of May 2007.

Ou Virak, the President of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), said that the desire to show the human rights condition (in Cambodia) to Yash Ghai, stems from the fact that, in Cambodia, the respect of human rights is not universal yet, and threats on human freedom rights still persist.

Ou Virak said: “In particular, regarding the safety for journalists, I note that recently, in Battambang province, a general was pointing his gun on a journalist, forcing the journalist to kneel down and ask for pardon, this is a problem. Until now, this general has not been charged yet. This shows that there is a lack of will to instill a state with the rule of law. We see that the lack of legal charge against a powerful person who is blatantly at fault is a serious problem.”

Regarding the plan to meet Yash Ghai, opposition leader Sam Rainsy said that he will meet the UN Special Envoy on 30 may in order to inform him about the violations of Cambodian people rights, in particular, the eviction of people from their homes, and forcing them to live in a desolated area, for example.

Sam Rainsy said: “All over the country, people’s homes have been dismantled, confiscated, this is a serious human rights violation against the people who are the rightful owners of the lands and waters, (especially) when they suffer from seeing their lands, their forests, their mountains are being confiscated from them. This is both a human rights violation and a violation of the democracy. Therefore, I am thanking Mr. Yash Ghai and I ask him to continue his work because he is a UN secretary in charge of human rights in Cambodia, he should do all that he can for the UN and the International community force the Cambodian government to respect human rights in Phnom Penh, and force the Cambodian government not to affect the livelihood of the people when it comes to (confiscating) people lands and homes.”

CPP MP Chiem Yeap said that on the day Yash Ghai arrives in Cambodia, he will calling on Yash Ghai, that if the latter is coming to investigate the issue of human rights respect in Cambodia, Yash Ghai should look from all aspects, not just look at this issue from a single angle only, and then proclaim the problem for all to hear.

Chiem Yeap said: “In the past, he cannot grasp (the situation) fully, that is why he provided a biased evaluation which is opposite to the reality and the truth. Therefore, I am calling that, whatever he is doing, let him have a proper check and balance, let him provide a proper review on what he is going to report in general. The UN report is provided for all countries, therefore whatever (he reports and he) is correct is fine, but whatever is not correct, it can affect the honor of the Kingdom of Cambodia in terms of truth and fairness.”

What Chiem Yeap wants to say "in terms of truth and fairness" is really hilarious.

In Cambodia, just say only one word "the weaks are always punished, but the powerful men are always rewarded". Look at high officials of Cambodia, they have never punished or arrested, so how good they are? Or those high rank leaders are good???? Who can quarrentee?

But what we are seeing is the weak and innocent people are evicted, confiscated, jailed and killed...etc

So in Cambodia, the weak people are bad persons, but the strong people(powerful officials and tycoons) are good person.

Only this point can enable Chiem Yeab and the CPP that "this is in terms of truth and fairness of Communism Regime of Cambodia".

Yash Gai has done a great job....I hope everybody in here including millions of Cambodian people are the weak person who need justice and thankful to Yash Gai's activity in Cambodia.

Well, we don't care about a few
who got away with murder. Pol Pot
is the biggest winner of all.
Furthermore, this problem existed
everywhere, and life need not to
evolve around it.

Pol Pot is not existing anymore nowaday, but any few killing happening and the culture of impunity is still existing in Cambodia is worse than Pol Pot.

Impunity exists everywhere, idiot (7:51). The problem is you are
virtually blind.

Hey Folks, I have just done some
background check on Ah stupid
Kenyan (Ghai). He's such a losers.
He has no success story outside
the university and textbooks.
He was appointed a Chaiman of
the Kenyan's Constitution Commision
to draft and review the Kenyan's
new constitution and he failed
flat on this face. He spread bad
words about people who work with
him and they forced him to resign,
hahaha, LOL, hahaha. Here's a brief:

"Kenya: Minister intervenes in CKRC stalemate

Kenya's Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Kiraitu Murungi, has poured water on reports that there are problems within the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC), saying the commission will neither be disbanded nor trimmed and that it will continue incurring expenditure. The East African Standard says he was speaking after a stormy meeting where 26 commissioners are reported to have reprimanded their chairman, Professor Yash Pal Ghai, for allegedly circulating malicious stories about them in the media. Some commissioners claimed they had won only part of the battle with Ghai and that they would strive to ensure that the commission completed its work with or without him. Major differences at the commission apparently emerged after it was reported that Ghai was working with a shadow commission, under the auspices of the Institute of Economic Affairs." - http://www.legalbrief.co.za/publication/archives.php?mode=archive&publication=Legalbrief_Africa&issueno=11&format=html

What is a fucken loud mouth
(Ghai)? Obviously, he has
psychological personality disorder.
Thus, I call on the UN to have him
undergoes a psychological test.
There is no way, that we should
work with a loser. Too much is at
risk here. He's also corrupted
for working under a shadow of
institute of the Economic affairs.
