Hun Sen vows to stop commenting on ECCC

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said here on Tuesday that he will stop commenting on the Extraordinary Chamber in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), which is to put former Democratic Kampuchea (DK) leaders on trial.

"I will stop talking about ECCC, because some people accused me of putting my hands into its working process," he told reporters at the National Institute of Education.

"Let ECCC do their work by themselves," he added.

Recently, ECCC spokesman Reach Sambath said that the internal regulations for the court will be approved late this month by foreign and Cambodian judges and the prosecutors will then start filing the initial cases against the DK leaders .

The United Nations and the Cambodian government jointly set up ECCC to conduct their trials at the cost of about 56.3 million U.S. dollars.
