LOWELL -- The leader of Cambodia's opposition party arrived in Lowell last night, thanking expatriates for their moral and financial help during local elections in his country during April.

Sam Rainsy, a member of the Cambodian parliament, insisted that the ruling Cambodian People's Party is corrupt, controlled by Communists and fails to provide for the needs of the people.

His party, formerly the Khmer Nation Party, wants to institute democratic changes to bring about economic prosperity, he said during a break from a rally with up to 500 supporters at the Sunny Da Restaurant on Chelmsford Street.

"We want peace and freedom and only democracy can bring about lasting stability based on justice," he said.

Lowell's Cambodian community can't vote in elections but supports Sam's party financially, said Tha Chang, who helped organize last night's rally.

"We are like the second line, we support them because we believe they are the only ones who can bring peace and prosperity to Cambodia," he said.

During the CG as the CPP begging from the donors, where were you SRP? I did not read or anything about you confronting the CPP for these donors' ears!

690 million USD, isn't money divided for parties budgetary needs? I am losing hope in your plight.

To Anon. 1:10 AM,

Your accusation is unfair and untrue, if you want to read SRP position during the CG meeting, read the SRP statement at the link below:

Please be fair in making your judgment.

To 1:10AM

you are so unfair as said by 1:20AM. You are not a child. You should know right from wrong. you should look before you jump. When you judge something, you should find enough evidence, not baseless as you did.

The fate of the country is not based on a group of leaders to decide. The country is not owned by a group of poeple. It belongs to us all. So, we have to keep watch. If we find something wrong, we have to correct for the poeple and the country's sake. If you don't think about this, you could take wrong to be right, black to be white.

Many poeple have seen that there are alot of mistakes and corruptions committed by CPP, but you don't. This means that you have problem with your eyes and brains.

Go and think. God will bless you.

Thanks,
