The Ministry of Interior (MoI) did not allow Kem Sokha’s fledgling Human Rights Party (HRP) to hold its congress next month. The MoI claims that this party did not have all the necessary paper works to legally open this party. Kem Sokha told Radio Free Asia on Wednesday said that he provided all the additional documents requested by the MoI on Wednesday already, and he said that when the MoI fully recognizes his party, then he will set the date for the party congress at that time. Khieu Sopheak, MoI spokesman, said that HRP does not receive the official green light to operate yet, because it did not fulfill all the official legal requirements yet, and some of its documents are too complicated, that was the reason why the MoI does not allow HRP to hold its congress. Not too long ago, Kem Sokha said that the MoI agreed to allow his party to hold its congress, and he even made the announcement of his party congress which would be held in Phnom Penh next July.

Trying to be a top leader in Cambodia, Kem Sokha needs to work far harder than what he has done so far. Leading an organization and proven to be a critic of government is still not good enough.

Mr.Kem, I personally support you in the previous years as human rights activist but sy the present, it is not time for you to start forming a party. Democracy fans need to assemble and share ideas in order to challenge the puppet CPP.
