Hun Sen warns against a change of leadership

Yesterday, the prime minister warned, during the inauguration of a bridge in the province of Kandal, those who would be tempted to change leaders, that his departure will drag down the price of lands. “One must know that peace is established in the country, a source of political stability, it is an essential factor for the rise of land prices. But, be warned that these prices will fall very quickly if you chose another leader who does not represent a guarantee of stability and peace,” Hun Sen said.

He cited, as example, the current price in the area surrounding the Hun Sen park, where the Cambodiana hotel, the Naga casino, the National Assembly, and the Ministry of Foreign Affais are located, where the price of lands rises to $2,000 per square-meter. “Those who only know how to yell when they don’t have the power, but when they get it, they create troubles. If you chose to replace Hun Sen, the prices could fall to $500 per hectare. In some countries, the change of leaderships already provoked troubles,” Hun Sen added.

SRP MP Keo Remy challenges the logic used by the prime minister. “It is true that stability depends on the leaders. But the price of lands is not entirely linked to the leaders: it depends first of all on the country’s economic activity. The more the country is developing itself, the more prices rise.” Keo Remy said.

Change of leaders is inevitable because they all die in the end.

High price of land does not mean the country is richer.

Owners are richer, but this is wealth without work, which is one of the seven deadly sins according to Mahatma Gandhi. www.sin

what does this message mean? does it mean that of Sun Hen is removed he will start the war in Cambodian to protect his sit? does the land and war start in other democratic countries has war when they change their leader? how can we do to get 1000 years old to Hun Sen so that he can stay to be Premier so the land price will not drop and no war in the country? any of his comment logic??

I actually want the land to be cheaper so that I can buy it in order to build my house.

Hahahaah Hun Sen should try Stand up comedy the guy is so funny but his politics is suck bad.

When will this one eye idiot learn how to speak in public. Comparing the price of land,PEACE and stability to his political career is like saying Cambodia is where its at because of Hun Sen. If that is the case, then Hun Sen should go to Iraq and restore Peace and stability there.

And the price of land should go down so more people can afford it. To build their houses.

Folks, I can't believe my eyes when I read this article. However, there is no wonder for it is the reasoning of a "Pagoda Boy".

Cambodia's Prime Minister has a truck-load of PhD degrees. Somehow he fails to understand the principle of supply and demand. Anything in short supply must sell very dearly. It has nothing to do with who the Prime Minister is. In Pol Pot years, 250g (1 Kompong) of rice sold at more than 1 ounce of fine gold and the supply was still short.

Prime Minister Hun Sen used to warn people about anything he feels threatened by. No surprise at all. But he's made a joke of himself by this kind of warning.

U C member of CPP and relatives!
Now your leader fears himself that one day he will be out of power soon. Better change your attitude before Khmer people chop all of you in pieces.

Hun Sen is explicitly warning that whenever his power is overthrown, the will use whatever tool to protect himself....

But like Dr. Lao said "can Hun Sen live lasting, immortallly...?"

Hun Sen's word is just showing us that his power is going to end soon..

It is pleasant to read all comments here. They are precisely what khmers need to do. Keep the focus on the subject. This is showing unity of thought and the work of democracy.

Hun Sen knew exactly what he is doing... get rid of khmers and populated our motherland with foreigners, namely vietnamese and chinese. He knows that khmers do not have money to compete for such horendous price lots. So khmers will lose out and keep moving to the unihabitable lands. Eventually, poverty, deseases and starvation will kill all khmers. That the goal of his master's plan.

Khmers have no option but to topple his regime. Any dog is better than Hun Sen and his clique so long as he is a sovereign dog.

Remember this, khmers must get rid of Hun Sen by themselves and put someone to "work for their interest" themselves and not waiting for some power to replace him.

Once khmers done that then khmers will be strong enough to keep doing until they get one of their own working for them.

We all should unit now. get rid of his family, his men, his foreign friends. Use oil money to build stronger military like Isreal to get our land and sea back from Youn and Thai.

No good enough, allow me to emphasize what Remy said,

"...the price of lands is not entirely linked to the leaders: it depends first of all on the country’s economic activity. The more the country is developing itself, the more prices rise.” Keo Remy said.

Now, just read those words that I
bolded, and tell me, since when did
Remy and his party ever talk about
economy in Cambodia? All the SRP
ever did is boycotting and defaming
the government and causing
instability in the country. I am
sure most of the merchant still
remembered 2003 and 2004. I mean
how it effected their bussinesses.

Also note that the statement
clearly expressed that economic
performance has little to do with
leader. If you know how to work it,
it will served you well
indiscriminately. Thus, changing
leaders serve very little purpose
and put the country at high risk,
especially when the candidates has
no track record. And that is what
Somdach Hun Sen really meant.

When the last Chinese emperor from the Ming dynasty passed away, top brass of then Chinese imperial army slaughtered thousands of their soldiers and buried them in standing guard position around the emperor's tomb so that those unfortunate soldiers could keep on protecting the emperor's soul.

By reading all comments made by some Khmer people who used to unconditionally support the CPP and Prime Minister Hun Sen, I have the feeling that when this Asia's longest serving Prime Minister passes away, there will certainly be thousands of CPP diehards volunteering to commit suicide and be buried in standing guard position around Samdech Hun Sen's stupa in order to firstly uphold their pledge of allegiance to him, and secondly, protect his soul from being dragged by Yumabals to the deepest gorge of the burning hell.

In this particular regard, KI Media should volunteer to post a simple one-paged form so that some CPP supporters can fill in and be listed well before Samdech Hun Sen passes away. And KI Media should start the posting right away for there are going to be hundreds of thousands of CPP diehards anxiously waiting to fill in that form.

I THINK IT'S NOT MUCH TO ASK, ISN'T IT!

It help those vultures to release their excess of dollars for land bying or to "spread" it on the land, as people use to say: "Dollars Kral Dey".

Do you really want a leadership or regime change? Congratulations! You are now with the company of the Nazi Rainsy party.

What does leadership or regime change mean to the kingdom of Cambodia, while everyone is propitiously enjoying the country’s economic prosperity (please don’t pollute the prosperity, or it will traumatize and stigmatize our country)? Will there be a cataclysmic repercussion, if the leadership, in fact, changed? Or will this be a tantamount to (yet another) ‘civil’ war, should Samdech Hun Sen compel by the external force to abnegate from his position?

With all due respect, it is my belief that our country already has enough political civil war, and, of course, we are certainly not looking forward to another (civil) war in the country.

I am unflinchingly underpinned the kingdom of Cambodia, and categorically repudiated to have you people or external force repugnantly to have my prime minister abnegated his power.

You should not ignore the warning; however, if you will, please take this as a peaceful (and friendly) gesture to forestall a potential embroiled conflagration yet inevitability, while our beloved country is not impregnable. Therefore, you should pay close attention to various premonitory warnings.
