Ty Sokhun, the Director General of the Forestry Administration, who was named in Global Witness (GW) report as being one of the persons involved in illegal logging, had angrily reacted by calling Global Witness’ staff as ‘crazy people.’ Ty Sokhun recognizes that Khun Thong, who is also named by Global Witness, is indeed his father-in-law, but Ty Sokhun said that Khun Thong and his other relatives are not involved in illegal logging. Ty Sokhun told The Cambodia Daily on Monday that Global Witness produced lies in all the pages of its report, and he said that Global Witness issued this report only to attract attention and to obtain financial gain. He said that Global Witness report is laughable.
Hun Neng, the Kompong Cham provincial governor and Hun Sen’s older brother, also reacted angrily by saying that he is thinking about legal means to deal with Global Witness which accused Leang Vuoch Chheng, his wife, and Hun To, his son, of involvement in illegal logging also. Hun Neng said that if Global Witness staff comes to Cambodia, he will beat them up until their heads split.

A very good insight, indeed! I am with you. There are too many Khmer inside the country that are underserved, or assistant program for the citizens from the current government is nonexistent.

My fellow countrymen, in the early 70th i have a chance to fly all over Cambodia. From the TONLE SAP on all the way to mountain range Dangrek ,our rain forest was so green and thick . From the air it look like a natural carpet and it's so beautiful.Our Cambodia was blessed with those natural wonder that been there for thousands of years. Now, those forest seem disappeared, and i wondered why? If illigal logging keep continuing, our country will become a SAHARA of Africa.The way the govt dealt with the GLOBAL WITNESS ,who want nothing but to preserve our natural wonder is trouble to all of us the KHMERS who have to live for thousands years to come...
Implicated peoples destructing Cambodia will be punished by history. Even in the previous regime, the king used his media, national and international (some by his flirting skill) to promote his regime, his achievment, but finally he can not hide later cambodian generation as me who was born after Khmer rouge. Dear Compatriots, The real Evidence of Cam Forest Destruction is If you try to have a Quick Look at(www. radarsat or www. camstelite image ??) you may find out the Radrsat Imageries captured by US Army or US Authority during the Cambodia /Vietnam War it show forestry situation of 1970, 1972, 1973, or 1984..after pol -pot regime so you can see how was our Forest then ??? very dense, ... you may compare with the newly captured air photos or satelite imagery of 1990s and 2000s so this is the reality of our forest Loss....
