Cambodian court delays verdict for terrorism case [-Terrorism paranoia by the Hun Sen's regime?]

July 25, 2007

The Phnom Penh court of Cambodia has delayed the verdict for a terrorism case of six Cambodians who were accused of attempting to topple the Cambodian government during the water festival in late 2006, court officials said on Wednesday.

The verdicts for the six people will be announced next week, presiding judge Kim Ravy told the court after questioning about five hours.

The six suspects have administrative structures to rule the operation against government and they aimed at destroying the national security of Cambodia, Phnom Penh court prosecutor Heoung Bun Kea said.

They built a network as terrorist group named "walking buffaloes" to topple the Cambodian government, Heoung Bun Kea said, adding that they have network inside and outside the country.

Meanwhile, Tieng Vuthea, one of the three lawyers for the six defendants, said that his clients were innocent because they did not commit like the prosecutor accused.

There are no obvious evidence and witnesses for the case, Vuthea said, adding that they could not take a piece of letter as the proof to arrest people over criminal terrorism case.

The verdict is controlled by the government. It is all a political game. There is no justice from our government and in our society.
