Cambodian students participate in Int'l Physics Olympiad in Isfahan, Iran

38th int'l Physics Olympiad kicks off in Isfahan

The 38th round of the International Physics Olympiad officially started its work in this ancient city, central Iran, on Saturday.

The major scientific event was inaugurated at the Industrial University of Isfahan with a speech by Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel.

It will continue till July 22 with its theoretical and practical contests to be held on July 15 and 17 respectively.

About 600 people including contesting students, their team observers and officials from more than 70 countries are currently in Isfahan.

The contestants are from different Asian, European and American countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Cambodia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, France, Britain, US, Sweden, Denmark, Singapore and Vietnam.

According to an earlier report, a total of 40 school girls and 350 school boys have taken part in the contest.

The participants attended a dinner banquet Friday night given in their honor at the Industrial University of Isfahan.

Vietnam will reportedly be the host of the 39th round of the International Physics Olympiad.
