HRP: A rebirth attempt of the defunct Son Sann party? The list of candidates to the party leadership seems to say so

Kem Sokha, HRP interim president, revealed the candidates to the HRP leadership along his side. These candidates include Keo Remy, Son Soubert, Keat Sokun, and a number of other important people, as well as those coming from overseas.

Kem Sokha told Rasmei Kampuchea (RK) that Keo Remy position as vice-president of the party has received the support already. As for Keat Sokun, the former financial officer of the defunct Son Sann Buddhist Liberal party is another candidate for the party vice-presidency. He added that “up until now, we have not decided on the number of party vice-presidents nor the list of candidates for the candidates to the party leadership yet.”

However, Kem Sokha said that Son Soubert, Son Sann’s son, will be candidate for the party steering committee or candidate for the position of chairman of the party regulation council. He said that he did not have a final discussion with Son Soubert yet because the latter is actually in Paris, France. He said that a number of other leader positions for the 3 branches of the party (of which the party president is already known to be Kem Sokha, the position of the chairman of the regulation council, and the chairman of the party steering committee) will be handed over to people from overseas. Nevertheless, the names of candidates from overseas have not been revealed yet. Kem Sokha only indicated that these candidates could be people coming from Canada, France, or the US.

As for the party secretariat, it will be led by a group of four people: 2 candidates from Cambodia, and 2 candidates from overseas. There are currently two candidates to the position of secretary-general and deputy secretary-general: Nhiek Vannara who is from Cambodia, and Ou Chanrath who is from overseas.

Keo Remy said that on 20 July, the party founders will hold a meeting to make a final decision of the list of candidates to the party leadership structure before the list is being presented for approval on 22 July.

Kem Sokha and Keo Remy claimed that Mao Veasna, the president of the Students Movement for Democracy, had decided to join the HRP. Kem Sokha said that “we will welcome them because the party needs a new generation to take over.” He said: “The party goal is that we think about the future of the youth. They will take over the organization of the party in the future.”

Kem Sokha said that besides Pen Sovann’s party, two other parties sent official letters to merge with HRP. The two parties are: the National Construction Party, and the National Liberal Democratic Salvation Party.

Even though Pen Sovann did not demand any position, he will become an advisor to the party, or he can become a vice-president of the party.

Congratulation of the merge!!! BUT BUT please merge your own party and SRP as well. I won't support both of you, SRP and HRP, unless you merge the parties.

It doesn't work to fight the CPP individually. SO start your discussions with each other.

SRP!!! Please compromise your stand if you are democracy!

Wishy washy type like Keat Sokun or Soubert is not asset but liability to new party especially at this moment. They are cowards since 90's. The split in ideological is awaiting to blow out if Sokha is so naive of cats in a grease pot story.

Aren't they FUNC by birth allegiance and chameleon by self serving practice?

They are absolutely deadweight for nothingness.

Kem Sokha is unsure in own self governing as a new party thrives to attract youths. If he keeps this way, surely HRP will be renamed Highness Royal Party instead.

Play to win not play to accomodate, this makes Hok Lundi a saint for 2008?

If SRP TO merge with HRP, SAM RAMSY must be a stupid man. He has to wait until after the election, and see the result first.

Kem Sokha is trying hard to work for his boss Hun Sen. He is a real spy and you'll see he will attack Sam Rainsy but mostly indirect.
As for Pen Sovann he will start cleaning his vietmin name first and then he will attack democrate party after. The rest are going with the blowing of the wind, they are jokers, they can't be with Sam Rainsy because they are afraid of Hun Sen. They are coward...

Sroksre: Hey Kem Sokha, you will have terrible fate like Sonando, you know for years ago Sonando was tricked by his Beehive Radio listeners. The listeners always persuade Sanando to establish his own political party they would support and vote for him. Sanando dreamed that he will win election because he perceive sound that many many listeners call for Sanando to create a political party but after election the result nothing. There are not different from Sanando, Kem Kokha play like this, when he did for CCHR many people trust him because they expected Kem Sokha may neutral and under the NGO aspect. Hence you become a politician the people will be never trust you anymore because you when you worked for CCHR you promised with people not do like hun sen but now clearly showed that you love power like hun sen too, if you are not why you establish your own political party. If you work for CCHR it meant that you are able to serve your people and nation already no need to do as politician. Cambodian will absolutely do not trust you and your HRP anymore.

You are now very busy with your political campaign on radio, is it right? I hope somedays soon will be kick out like Ranarith by hun sen because hunsen can not stand to see your campaign before him.

Sroksre, wish Dr. stand outside the political arena. Khmer young generation respect and value him as role of model because he act as neutral and he distribute a lot of experience for young. If he join any party he will be lost his good image and reputation as scholar of Cambodia. We have few scholars like Dr. and the other scholars just haier haier with other stupid leaders. I am very much appreciate with Dr. qualification.

I am sure HRP WILL has no seat. Everyone knows he is a currupt/greedy person, and power hunger. He has no civil passion at heart.

When Khem Sokha visited Australia, he said Hun Sen met with him and really want him to form a political party and willing to financial him. He said: "I'm not stupid because if I do that, Hun Sen will win again".

Now he formed his HRP because he recieved a lot of money from Hun Sen.

Khem Sokha, you will get no where beside assist the criminal to destroy Cambodia.

Who will take Hun Sen job if he would have had heart attack? Or dropped dead after playing hide and seek with younger girl at the secret resort?
