Suspected former Khmer Rouge leaders who will face judgment at the Khmer Rouge tribunal in the future, are under surveillance and safety protection of the police. General Mao Chan Dara, the chairman of the national police headquarters told RFA on Saturday that security forces continue to maintain surveillance both inside the country and along the borders. Mao Chan Dara said: “Along border gates, for entry and departures, we are observing (these activities). For a number of important leaders, in the past, we maintained surveillance and followed them.” Mao Chan Dara said that up until now, the security situation is normal even though the co-prosecutors have already listed five suspects who could face the court.
