VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia agreed to set up their own business club, at a meeting in Phnom Penh on Sunday.

According to Le Bien Cuong, Vietnamese Commercial Counsellor in Cambodia, trade between Vietnam and Cambodia has grown from US$170mil in 2000 to $935mil in 2006 and is expected to surpass $1bil this year.

Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia have markedly contributed to this increase, Cuong said.

Nguyen Van Dinh, a representative for Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia, said there are more than 100 Vietnamese businesses in the country, with about half of them operating profitably in areas such as construction, commodity production, timber and seafood processing.
