Prince Thomico talked to Rasmei Kampuchea in the afternoon of 08 August about his meeting with Keo Puth Reasmei. The prince said that Keo Puth Reasmei agreed to leave Funcinpec’s door open for Prince Ranariddh, and Funcinpec wants Ranariddh to let it know what he really wants. Prince Thomico also asked Funcinpec party leaders to stop talking about Prince Ranariddh, but that Funcinpec’s door be left open, and that for the Funcinpec leaders to wait to see Prince Ranariddh’s proposal.
Prince Thomico also indicated his personal position in which he wants Prince Ranariddh to return to preside over Funcinpec back. Thomico said that normally, a political party wouldn’t sue its own president. He added that, at the moment, Funcinpec is looking for a solution for Prince Ranariddh.
Nevertheless, Prince Thomico considers the Ranariddh problem as a minor one when compared to other national problems. Prince Thomico said that the discussion about Prince Ranariddh is a waste of time. Therefore, Funcinpec should organize it political base, and wait to see Prince Ranariddh’s proposal back. Prince Thomico said: “We cannot afford to be stuck because of Prince Ranariddh only.” He also said that he and Keo Puth Reasmei agreed that they should visit the party bases to explain to people about the idea of uniting the royalist family.
Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, said in the afternoon of 08 August, that whether Prince Ranariddh will send his proposal or not, is not important. Muth Cantha said that prince does not want to come back to preside over Funcinpec any more. Muth Chantha added that the would-be-return of Prince Ranariddh to Funcinpec is nothing more than a political strategy. He added: “Therefore, I don’t want to talk about Funcinpec any more because it has no value at all.” However, Muth Chantha said that if Funcinpec really has the will, it should show it first.
